"Her legacy lives on in the laughter of the children she loved."
Dotty June (Hughes) Dunn, daughter of the late Roy and Loretta (Marah) Hughes, was born April 24, 1934, near Hartville, Missouri. She passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026, in Mountain Grove, Missouri, surrounded by family.
Dotty was a homemaker, dearly beloved by children all her life. In addition to raising her own family, she operated a home day care as well as managing her church nursery for nearly 50 years. It was once said jokingly that she probably held the Guinness world record for diapers changed. She enjoyed traveling, having visited most of the 50 states. She also enjoyed raising flowers and gardening and was an excellent cook and seamstress.
Besides her parents, Dotty was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Don Dunn; brother, Paul Hughes; sister, Sue Hutton; and sister-in-law, Beulah Walker and her husband, Bob.
Dotty is survived by her brother, Johnny Hughes and his wife, Bonnie of Springfield; sister-in-law, Nancy Hughes of Hartville; her children, Karen Fisher and her husband, Terry of Forsyth; Chuck Dunn of Lebanon; Kathy Poggemoeller and her husband, Daniel of French Village; Steve Dunn of Stillwater, Oklahoma; Mike Dunn of Verona; and Lori Fry and her husband, Dwight of Mountain Grove. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, as well as many other family members and friends. Her legacy lives on in the laughter of the children she loved.
