Douglas Lewis

Mar 20, 1950 — Jul 2, 2026

Mansfield, Missouri

Douglas Robert Lewis, son of the late Calvin and Marie (Lowe) Lewis, born March 20, 1950, in Royal Oak, Michigan, departed this life July 2, 2026, at his home in Mansfield, Missouri, at the age of 76 years, 3 months, and 12 days.

Douglas grew up in Royal Oak, Michigan, and graduated from Clarence M. Kimball High School, Class of 1969. During high school, he enjoyed performing in the marching and concert bands. On October 28, 1972, Douglas was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Debra Kay Hamer, and to this union, three children were born.

Throughout his life, Douglas and his family resided in Michigan, Florida, Maine, and Virginia before ultimately joining his family (who had already moved) in Mansfield, Missouri, for his retirement. Though officially retired from a hardworking career that included roles from school custodian to security guard, his work was far from over. He and his family began farming in Mansfield, and Douglas would often joke that he worked much harder on the farm during his retirement years than he ever did before.

In his spare time, Douglas enjoyed watching various sports, including hockey, football, and soccer. Douglas was a very simple man and lived a very simple life.

Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Marie Lewis, and one son-in-law, Robert Cole

He is survived by his wife, Debra Lewis of the home, three children, Sarah Cole, Rebekah Long and husband Justin, and Joshua Lewis, seven grandchildren, Jacob Cole, Dylan Cole, Mason Cole, Shane Long, Gabe Long, Samantha Long, and Liam Long, two brothers, Brian Lewis and Mark Lewis, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Douglas was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
