Doyle Dean Olive

Doyle Dean Olive, age 91, and a resident of Asher, Oklahoma, passed away June 28, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

 Doyle was born May 15, 1933, in Nolan County near Sweetwater, Texas, to Thomas Bailey Olive and Zuma Kansas (Glover) Olive. Born and raised into a large family of eight children during the depression, and then World War II, the Olive family worked hard, long hours and learned to enjoy the love and presence of each other.

 As many families did during these hard times, the Olive family moved to California for work in the agriculture fields when Doyle was a young boy. Some of the older children married and settled in California. But Doyle, in his teens, yearned to go back to Texas. There, he found plenty of work in the booming oilfields on a seismograph crew. After a few years, Doyle enlisted in the United States Army and spent the majority of his two-year military career in Germany. Upon discharge, he went back to California, where he soon met and wed Henrietta “Bonnie” Thompson, and five children were born to them, Marvin, Becky, Steven, Rhonda, and Deann. They made their home in and around Blythe, California, where Doyle worked in the agriculture field mainly producing hay and operating a harrow bed. The early 1970's found the family moving to Wright County, Missouri. Doyle worked at various jobs, including at Ken Ballew Hatchery and operated heavy equipment at Hutchens Industries, retiring after twenty-five years.

 Several years after Henrietta’s “Bonnie’s” passing, Doyle married Bonnie Marie Allen, and they made their home in Asher, Oklahoma. This marriage brought Doyle another son and daughter, Gary and Vicky. Doyle and Bonnie were blessed with twenty-five years of marriage.

 Doyle enjoyed all outdoor activities, but most of all, he enjoyed bass fishing. For many years, he was an active member of the Tri-County Bass Anglers in Missouri and several bass fishing organizations in Oklahoma and was well known for his love of throwing the infamous “Spook”. Doyle loved and followed closely the Dallas Cowboys football team and was always ready for a trip to the casinos. Above all, he loved spending time with his entire family.

 Doyle was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas B. and Zuma K. Olive; wife, Henrietta “Bonnie” Olive; sons, Marvin Olive and Gary Allen; daughter, Deann Cornelius; grandsons, Brandon Olive and Tony Cornelius; brothers, Vernon Olive and Joe Bailey Olive; sisters, Teresa Spivey, Vera Whitson, Irma Moore, Bobbie Jean McFarlin, and Bonnie Faye Guess.

 Doyle is survived by wife, Bonnie Olive of the home; children and spouses, Steven and Pattie Olive of Garden City, Texas, Becky and Bruce Honeycutt of Rogersville, Missouri, Rhonda and Earl Dixon of Mansfield, Missouri, and Vicky and Robert Duck of Konawa, Oklahoma; daughters-in-law, Karen Olive of Mansfield, Missouri, and Rita Allen of Shawnee, Oklahoma; fourteen grandchildren, Chasity Dugger, Eric Honeycutt, Missy Wallace, Jackie Kelley, Clint Berry, Justin Thurman, Dustin Dixon, Natasha Reed, Mandie Adamson, Savanna Clark, Mason Allen, Misty Willson, Kasey Prewitt and R.J. Duck; thirty-five great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice of Shawnee, Oklahoma.
