Earl Glenn

March 26, 1948 — May 16, 2024

Cabool

Earl Wesley Glenn was born on March 26, 1948, to Eugene and Goldie (Means) Glenn at their home in Willow Springs. He passed away Thursday, May 16, 2024, in Mercy Hospital after a brief illness. Earl was 76 years, 1 month, and 19 days of age.

Earl graduated from Tracy Joint Union High School in Tracy, California, in 1966. After graduating, Earl joined the United States Navy. His time in the Navy was spent on the USS Guadalcanal aircraft carrier. His numerous certificates allowed him to work as a radar technician. He was involved in the recovery of the Apollo IX capsule and crew off the Bahamas on March 13, 1969. He loved sharing the details of this event.

After returning from the military, Earl moved to the Cabool area, then to Idaho. He had numerous jobs, such as being a server, where he used a compassionate and attentive ear to his customers. His attention to detail made him an exceptional carpenter and cabinet maker. He later returned and retired to the Mountain Grove area. He loved to garden and spend time outside. Earl prided himself on the variety of plants and vegetables he grew each year. His health finally required him to move to McEldo Housing. His neighbors became special friends who watched out for him. Earl later moved to Country Living Assisted Living and Kabul Nursing Home. A special thank you to all the facilities that allowed him to become part of their small communities.

During his lifetime, Earl enjoyed his old westerns and classic country music. However, he would sing along if an old hymn came on the radio. He loved his family and enjoyed large family gatherings. He was a kind and gentle man. He loved his role as Uncle Earl.

Earl is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Goldie Glenn, brother-in-law, Art Graves, sister-in-law, Debra Glenn, and niece, Stephanie Thompson.

He is survived by his sisters, Barbara Wade of Mountain Grove, Phyllis Graves of Fulton, Texas, Shirley Smith and husband, Tommy, of Cabool, two brothers, Steve Glenn and wife, Linda, of Cabool, Tony Glenn and wife, Missy, of Mountain Grove, and a special aunt, Avenel of Ontario, Idaho. Earl was blessed with many nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Maple and Main off the Mountain Grove Square. All family and friends are welcome to attend.
