Edna Oliphant

September 6, 1932 — April 26, 2024

Mountain Grove

Mary Edna Oliphant, better known as “Edna”, was born September 6, 1932, in Huggins, Missouri, to Rev. John L. and Florence (Owens) Ratterree. She passed away on April 26, 2024. She was 91 years, 7 months and 20 days of age.

Edna attended Logan School for eight years. On May 16, 1953, she was united in marriage to Lee Oliphant. To this union two sons were born, Randy and Dallas, and one daughter, Vicky.

Edna lovingly took care of her family. They could always count on a hot meal. She was a great seamstress whether it was mending clothes or making new ones. She always put out a large garden that she canned from and tried to have enough to feed the family until the next garden.

In 1990, Edna and Lee divorced. After a few years apart they started spending time together. They kept their bond till the end. Edna moved to Hartville when her marriage ended. There she babysat many children. In the later years she pieced together many quilts for her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. In 2022, Edna moved to Mountain Grove.

Edna was baptized at a young age and was proud to be a charter member of Hopewell Free Will Baptist Church.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, David and Don Ratterree; her sister, Delores Turner; three sisters-in-law, Sandy, Dottie, and Joy Ratterree; two brothers-in-law, Charley Ratterree and Shirley Turner; and her children’s father, Lee Oliphant.

Edna is survived by her three children, Randy Oliphant and his wife, Diane, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, Dallas Oliphant, of Springfield, Missouri, and Vicky Connell, and her husband, James, of Lebanon, Missouri; her grandchildren, Roy Oliphant, Jeremy Oliphant, and his wife, Angela, Kristy Paine and her husband, Scott, Kelly Oliphant, Devon Connell, and his wife, Meranda; great-grandchildren, Kevin, Caleb, Skyler, Adalyn, Mackenzie, Emma, Dylan, Leilani “LJ”, Charleigh, Raelynn, and Rynnlea; her sister, Naomi Dugger and her husband, Don; two brothers, Johnny Ratterree, and his wife, Brexine, Jerry Ratterree and his wife, Irene; sister-in-law, Maxine Ratterree; her Hopewell Church Family; and many other relatives and friends that will miss her very much.
