Elma Ora Barnes

May 8, 1925 — November 14, 2007

Elma Ora Barnes, daughter of the late John and Mamie (McKee) Baker, was born on May 8, 1925 in Upton, Missouri, and passed away on November 14, 2007 in the Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, Missouri, following a short illness. She was 82 years, 6 months, and 6 days of age.
Elma grew up and attended school in the Number One Community in Texas County, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Fern Barnes on April 9, 1944 in Jackson, Mississippi. They made their home in the Belton, Missouri area since 1972 after moving from the Manes, Missouri area. In august of this year she moved to Cabool where she was living at the time of her passing.
Elma was a very loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, friend and neighbor. She enjoyed being with her family and visiting with those around her. She spent a lot of her life caring for others who could not care of themselves.
She was saved at a young age and attended church at Number One and Hickory Ridge and lived a Christian life.
Her favorite pastimes were playing bingo and dominoes with her friends and she also enjoyed quilting and embroidery work.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband: Fern Barnes on October 16, 1979; a son: Farrel Barnes; a grandson: John Barnes; three brothers: Howard Baker, Lester Baker and Claude Baker; and by one sister: Elta Wilhite.
She is survived by two sons: Lonnie Barnes of Cabool, Missouri and Donald Barnes of Waynesville, Missouri; four daughters: Audrey Delcour of Quincy, Illinois, Wilma Todd of Cleveland, Missouri, Ina Gebelin of Crane, Missouri, and Leotta Moore of Mtn. Grove, Missouri.; twenty-three grandchildren; thirty-eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces; nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.

Visitation:
Friday, November 16, 2007 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM in the funeral home.

Dutch Chapel Cemetery
