Emma Jean Byerlee

Emma Jean Byerlee passed away Friday, October 28, 2022, in her home in Seymour, Missouri, at 87 years of age. She was born August 4, 1935, in Douglas County, Missouri, to George and Gladys (Brown) Walker.


Emma was united in marriage to Lonnie Byerlee and three children were born to this union: Arnold, Nancy, and Patsy.


Emma was an accomplished seamstress. She worked as a professional seamstress for many years, and she also enjoyed sewing in her free time. She loved working in the yard, especially gardening and caring for her flowerbeds. She also enjoyed cooking and baking.


Besides her parents, Emma was preceded in death by one son, Arnold Byerlee, one brother, Edward Walker, three sisters, Virginia Medlock, Bonnie Lane, and Lois Smith.


She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Melton and her husband, Bob, of Noble, Missouri, and Patsy Walker of Seymour, Missouri, one brother, Pat Walker and his wife, Barbara, seven grandchildren, Matthew Byerlee, Andrew Byerlee, Melissa Strunk, Curtis Melton, Amanda Walker, Cory Walker, and Sarah Renthrop, fourteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her.
