Emmit Kermit Baty

September 3, 1936 — January 23, 2020

Emmit Kermit Baty was born, the son of John Cyrus Baty and Mary Atchley Baty, September 3, 1936, in Bendavis, Missouri, and departed this life January 23, 2020, in Mt. Vernon, Missouri, at the age of 83 years.

He was united in marriage December 23, 1993, in Las Vegas, Nevada, to Dixie Ragsdale Rust. They were married over 26 years.

Kermit was a member of Kings Way Christian Church of Mt. Vernon. He served in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1959. He received his degree in Wildlife Management from the University of Maine. He lived in Coos Bay, Oregon after graduation to work for the Bureau of Land Management. He retired from there in 1994 and moved to Mt. Vernon, Missouri.

Kermit loved his family and the outdoors. He would spend countless hours working outside in the flower bed with a little blonde headed girl at his side. He loved being a PePa so much. He was the happiest when his grandchildren were around.

Kermit was preceded in death by his parents, ten brothers and sisters, Imogene Porter, Bonnie Maxwell, Wilma Campbell, Bertie Baty, Hazel Hayes, Eugene Baty, Murlin Baty, Lowell Baty, Montie Baty and Dwyane Baty; and one granddaughter, Nicole Ann Rust.

He is survived by his wife, Dixie, of the home in Mt. Vernon, Missouri; three children, Delinda Jenkins and husband, Gene, Kent Rust and wife, Michelle, and Trudy Call and husband, Darren, all of Mt. Vernon, Missouri; five brothers and sisters, Mary Jo Kelemen and husband, Ed, of Cherryvale, Kansas, Johnnie Lou Mahan of Eminence, Missouri, Kay Crisp and husband, Lonnie, Carolyn Pierce and husband, Delbert, and Larry Baty and wife, Debbie, all of Bendavis, Missouri; six grandchildren, Sabrina Horton, Abby Brock, Erin Taber, Teddy Rust, Luke Call and Cameron Call; two great-grandchildren, Jeremy Horton and Bodie Brock; many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends
