Eric Wayne Jones, son of Wayne Jarrett Jones and Shirley Ann (Hastings) Jones, was born January 23, 1978, in Houston, Missouri. He left this earth on June 25, 2025, to be with our Lord. He had been suffering from health issues for some time and was a very quiet and soft-spoken man so not many knew of his problems.
Eric grew up in Cabool, Missouri, and graduated with the Cabool High School class of 1997. Eric knew our God as his Lord and Savior and was baptized in 1992 at Maness Memorial Baptist Church, where he also attended vacation Bible school.
Eric started his professional career with obtaining a CNA degree and serving the seniors at the Kabul Nursing Home in 1997. He attended Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar and Missouri State University in Springfield, ultimately earning his degree in business management from Evangel University in Springfield. Eric’s professional career made him a superstar for AT&T. He was flown to Miami, Florida, in 2015 to receive their number one salesman award for all of North America.
As a youngster, Eric played Little League baseball in Cabool and his love of baseball continued throughout his lifetime. A favorite past time for him was to hit softballs out of Fastnight Park, as well as other parks in Springfield. Eric and his dad attended several games of the Kansas City Royals and the Kansas City Chiefs. Eric also met one of his favorite players in person, George Brett.
Eric was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Amos Colburn Jones and Betty Sue (Beck) Jones; maternal grandparents, Pete George Hastings and Delsie Iola (Tooley) Hastings; three uncles, James Garrett Jones, Frankie Joe Hastings, and Ronnie Lee Hastings; and one aunt, Donna Jean Wyrick.
Eric leaves behind his beloved daughter, Hailey Elizabeth Jones of Springfield; his beloved son, Caleb Ryan Jones of Springfield; his parents, Wayne and Shirley Jones of Mountain Grove; one sister, Carrie Ann (Jones) Hines and husband, Les, of Cabool; niece and nephew, Isaac and Jasmine; great-nephew, Lucas James McNeil; great-niece, Adeline Grace, who was born within hours of Eric’s departing this earth into the arms of his Heavenly Father; three aunts, Evelyn Jeannette Jones of Mountain Grove, Amy Carlene Hornback and husband, Tim, of Milan, Illinois, and Rebecca “Becky” Stark and husband, Steven, of Tucson, Arizona; cousins, Sarah Burkhart, Jamie Jones, Ian Hornback, Ashlyn Hornback, Stephanie Daisy Mehrabani, Diana Rae Stark, Ryan Burkhart, Madison Burkhart, Samuel Frank, Sophia Frank, Ava June, and Saveh Daisy.
With each beat of our hearts, God is saying, “I LOVE YOU.” When our hearts stop, God wants to say it in person.
Memorial services for Eric Jones will be planned for a later date.
