Aurora, Illinois

George "Junior" John King, Jr., 95, of Aurora, Illinois passed away peacefully at home on January 4, 2026. George was born on May 17, 1930 in Coldsprings, Missouri to John Henry King and Vurla Zorada King (Driskell). After graduating high school, George joined the Navy in 1947 spending three years in service on the USS Saint Paul. After coming home, George enlisted once again with the US Army in 1950. George spent seven years with the US Army stationed out of Los Angeles, California and Fort Riley, Kansas. George was in the Korean War. His service took him to a multitude of army bases throughout the world. After military service, George worked as a welder for Dunbar Manufacturing and later Caterpillar, Inc. George was considered a master in his trade. His work was envied by everyone that worked alongside him and for him.

In December, 1953, George met the love of his life, Maxine Lenora Page. Sadly, Maxine died in July, 2003 shortly before their 50th wedding anniversary. Together, they had nine children starting with George E. (Teresa), William D. (Joni), Marvin D. (Shirley), Catherine R. Kramp (Nick), Carolyn J. Powell (Randy), Melvin D. (Jackie), Connie F. Thornton, James S. (Laurie) and Richard A. George and Maxine enjoyed 29 grandchildren and many great grandchildren with several currently on the way. George had four sisters, Naomi Brooks (William), Zola Pike (Charles), Nola Pool (Jerry). Preceded in death was Virgi Mae Nall (Clyde) and a brother Edward King (Rosetta).

George was happiest spending time with all his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. George loved being outdoors and visiting with his large extended family in Missouri. George had quite the flock of birds in his backyard that were fed very well. He would spend hours drinking coffee, listening to music and watching his birds.

George will be deeply missed.
