Glenda Mary Cooper, daughter of the late George and Ada (Long) Thornhill, was born on November 14, 1936 in Mtn. Grove, Missouri, and departed this life on January 23, 2011 at her residence in Mtn. Grove, following a two year illness, at 74 years of age.
Glenda grew up and attended school in Mtn. Grove and graduated from Mtn. Grove High School in 1954. She was united in marriage to Charles Cooper on June 24, 1956 in Mtn. Grove. Two children were born to this union. They moved to Springfield, Missouri in 1968 and later they lived in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where they made their home until retiring back to Mtn. Grove in 2001.
Glenda was a homemaker all her life and enjoyed sewing, gardening, traveling, decorating and shopping. She especially enjoyed taking care of her family and visiting and spending time with her many friends and her five sisters.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mtn. Grove and enjoyed attending services as long as her health permitted.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Cooper on December 4, 2005; and by two brothers: Lee Thornhill and Frankie Thornhill.
She is survived by one son: Larry Cooper and his wife, Lora, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one daughter: Marilyn Gentry of Columbia, Tennessee; five sisters: Dorine Peterson, Jean Littrell, and Nola Faye Atchison, all of Mtn. Grove, Pauline Allen of the State of Florida and Donna Fletcher of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; two grandchildren: Levi Cooper and Lindsey Gallegos; three great-grandchildren: Lillian, Parker and Griffin Cooper; and other relatives and friends who will miss her very much.
