Howard Lansdown

Howard Wayne Lansdown, son of the late Virgil and Amie "Dood" (Moore) Lansdown, was born February 26, 1943, in Hartville, Missouri, and departed this life August 1, 2025, at Select Specialty Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 82 years, 5 months, and 6 days.

Howard grew up on the family farm just outside of Hartville. As a young man, Howard and his brothers would often help their father run the milk route and collect cream cans from local dairy farms. He attended school in Hartville, playing basketball, running track, and graduated from Hartville High School. Howard spent the majority of his career working for Peabody Energy as a coal miner in Uniontown, Kentucky, from which he retired.

In his spare time, Howard raised and sold coon hunting dogs. He raised and sold hundreds of dogs all across the state. He loved to coon and squirrel hunt. Howard was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back. He was very caring and would go out of his way to visit friends and family who were sick or in the hospital. He was caring, generous, giving, and a man of his word.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Amie “Dood” Lansdown, three brothers, Harold, Delvin, and Clifford Lansdown, and one sister, Wanda Lathrom.

He is survived by his loving wife, Betty (Land) Lansdown, four sons, Russell Lansdown, Ronnie Lansdown and wife, Kathy, Robert Lansdown and wife, Anne, and Greg Morris, three daughters, Vickie Hilliard and husband, Lonnie, Regina Androes and husband, Steven, and Roxanna Greenwood and husband, Dan, 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Howard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

In honor of Howard's wishes, there will be no public services. Memorial contributions can be made to Moore Cemetery or Steele Memorial Cemetery in Care of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Hartville, or by mail: P.O. Box 236, Hartville, Missouri, 65667.
