John "Johnny Wheelz" Foster

August 31, 1972 — February 26, 2026

Mansfield, Missouri

John “Johnny Wheelz” Foster, son of the late Lyle Foster and Maryily Tucker, born August 31, 1972, in Davenport, Iowa, departed this life February 26, 2026, in Mansfield, Missouri, at the age of 53 years, 5 months, and 26 days.

Johnny grew up living in various places, but the majority of his childhood was spent in the Gainesville area in a farmhouse in the county with his 6 siblings. At the age of 18, Johnny was involved in an accident that resulted in him losing his legs. For most people, this may have been the end, but not for Johnny. After 4 short months in the hospital, he was back out doing the things he loved, living life to the fullest.

Johnny was the true definition of a gearhead. When it came to cars, he could fix anything, spending much of his working years as a mechanic. As if working as a mechanic was not enough, in his spare time, he restored many cars from the ground up, including his beloved 1955 and 1957 Chevy. When he was not under the hood of a car, he could be found playing pool with anyone who dared to challenge him, even though they were likely to lose. Even if they managed to win, it was likely because the table was not level or there was a rip in the felt. He also enjoyed playing video games, hunting, and watching NASCAR.

Johnny was a man who did not know a stranger, but if he met a stranger, he would be willing to give the shirt off his back for them. He was the friend that you could always call on, especially for help working on a car or even just to hang out with and share a few drinks. On the other hand, Johnny was also the type of person who could argue with a fence post and likely win. Regardless, he was always the friend that you could count on.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle Foster and Maryily Tucker.

He is survived by four sons, Alex Foster, Ryan Foster, Jack Foster, and Zach Rowe, two daughters, Brittany Nichols and Paige Foster, his long-time significant other, Dena Rowe, six siblings, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends that he considered family.

Johnny will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
