Independence

Christene Joy Shull (Todd) was born on February 8th, 1951.  Joy, as she was known to everyone, departed this life on April 18th, 2024.  She was born to Walter and Golda Todd in Niangua, Missouri. 
 
Early in her life she committed her life to the Lord and was baptized into the Church of Christ.  She continued her daily walk with the Lord until her passing.  Joy graduated from Hartville High School and attended classes at the College of the Ozarks.  Joy married James Shull on June 27th, 1970.  They moved to Independence, Missouri, and spent almost 54 years together in marriage.
 
Joy enjoyed watching her sons play sports in their early years and then watching her grandchildren’s activities later in life.  Joy also loved spending time with family and friends playing cards and fellowshipping.  Joy enjoyed travelling all over with her family.  Joy also spent her time dedicated to church activities.  She was a Sunday School teacher, volunteered at Little Blue Bible Camp and was the church secretary for many years.
 
Joy was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Golda Todd, step-father, Roy Lynch, brothers, Carl Todd and Jay Todd, and nephew, Aaron Todd.
 
Joy is survived by her husband, James Shull of Independence, Missouri, children, Matthew Shull and wife, Catherine Shull, of Independence, Missouri, Ethan Shull and wife, Brooke Shull, of Lone Jack, Missouri, grandchildren, Caleb, Autumn, Ryley, Cooper and Teagan, brother, Clyde Todd and wife, Pam Todd, of Marshfield, Missouri, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends that will miss her greatly.


Memorial contributions may be made to Little Blue Bible Camp in care of the funeral home.
