Julia Stillwell

February 2, 1931 — July 12, 2022

Julia Stillwell, daughter of the late Orville Ray and Mary Grace (Parrish) McAlister, was born on February 2, 1931, at Blandinsville, Illinois, and passed from this life on July 12, 2022, at Mountain Grove, Missouri. She was 91 years, 5 months and 10 days of age.

The McAlister family were farmers moving from Rutledge, Missouri, to Illinois, then to Colorado, before settling in Cabool, Missouri. Julia graduated from Cabool High School in 1949. Prior to retirement she worked for Brown Shoe Company and worked the dairy farm with her husband.

She married Gerald Egbert Stillwell on October 28, 1950, in Salem, Arkansas. Three children were born to this union, Jerry, Shirley, and Tabby

Julia was a member of Pleasant Home Free Will Baptist Church while residing in the country. When Gerald and Julia moved to town, they joined Cornerstone Free Will Baptist Church. Several years after the passing of Gerald, Julia rejoined Pleasant Home Free Will Baptist Church and attended with her daughter-in-law, Brenda Stillwell. She also loved visiting Rock Chapel Free Will Baptist Church with Matt and Tabby to listen to Pastor Charles Felker as long as her health allowed.

Julia enjoyed embroidery, spending time with her family, and taking care of her grandchildren as well as many others who called her Grandma. One of Julia’s favorite things to do with family was fishing and spending time down at the river in Mammoth Springs, Arkansas. Julia was a very social person and never met a stranger. She also never left you wondering what she was thinking.

Besides her parents, Julia was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald, on October 5, 2014, her son, Jerry Stillwell, one daughter, Shirley Rodgers, and two sisters, Genola McClenahan and Thelma Sinks.

Julia is survived by one daughter, Tabby Unger and husband, Matt, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, a daughter-in-law, Brenda Stillwell of Mountain Grove, Missouri, a son-in-law, Charles Rodgers of Mountain Grove, Missouri, nine grandchildren, Scott Stillwell and wife, Kristi, Ty Stillwell, Kamber Beller and husband, Rance, Michelle Stigall, Courtney Emery and husband, David, Braden Unger and wife, Hannah, Trenton Unger and fiancée, Carley, Morgan Unger, and Destin Unger, eleven great-grandchildren, Brittany Barton and husband, Brandon, Taylor Cannon and husband, Zachary, Nolan Stillwell and wife, Grace, Logan Stillwell and wife, Kendra, Kaitlen Kelley and husband, Cody, Zach Beller, Daustin Luck, Emma Stigall, Blythe Unger, Jasper Unger, and Owen Unger, seven great-great- grandchildren, Elsie, Griffin, and Hudson Barton, Noah and Viola Cannon, Parker Stillwell, Maeve Stillwell, and baby Kelley on the way, and a host of other relatives and many friends.
