June Marie Hastings

May 9, 1940 — April 2, 2026

Springfield

June Marie (Means) Hastings was born May 9, 1940, in Texas County, Missouri, to George and Emma Means. She passed peacefully after a short illness at 8:30 AM on April 2, 2026, with her daughter, Julie, by her side. June was prepared for her departure from this life knowing without a doubt that she would be entering heaven and into the arms of Jesus.

June spent her childhood with her family moving from Tyrone to St. Louis, to the state of Idaho, and then back to St. Louis. She met Vaughn Hastings while living and working in Kirkwood, Missouri, as a car hop at Steak and Shake. They married in 1957. She gave birth to her daughter, Julie Diane, in St. Louis in 1966. After living in Texas and Oregon, the family moved back to Mountain Grove, in 1980.

She was a hard worker and spent over 20 years working as a MedTech at Autumn Oaks Caring Center in Mountain Grove. After she retired, June volunteered with the Foster Grandparents Program in Lebanon, Missouri. There she spent many happy hours reading to Kindergarten and 1st Grade children. Through that program she enjoyed being the “grandma” that many didn’t have.

Family was the most important thing to June, and she was happiest when she spent time with them, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She spent many happy hours and days with her grandchildren when they were young, always jumping at the chance to babysit or just help with them.

Her brothers, sisters, and all her nieces and nephews were also very important to her. She was a short but life-sized encyclopedia knowing all their birth dates and middle names. Aunt June had wonderful memories of babysitting many of those nieces and nephews. She always loved being silly and laughing with her brothers and sisters. Her brothers, Thomas, Donald, and Junior, were famous for the nicknames they created for her like, “Jelly Bean,” “Junebug,” and many others. After losing them she continued to miss them immensely and as the last surviving sibling, Aunt June thought it very important and continued to share those stories and memories for many years with her nieces and nephews. She loved keeping up with all of their lives… she was a talker. June is survived by her daughter, Julie Randolph and husband, Larry, of Springfield, Missouri; her grandchildren, Robert Randolph and wife, Jeri, of Miller, Missouri, Tosha (Randolph) Tracey and husband, Matt, of Jonesborough, Tennessee, Zachary Randolph and wife, Jennie, of Battlefield, Missouri, and Pierce Randolph and wife, Madeyln, of Springfield, Missouri; seven great-grandchildren, Claire Randolph, Nolan Randolph, Marvin Randolph, Noah Tracey, Emma Tracey, Juliette Randolph, and Joshua Randolph.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Springfield’s Glendale Gardens for all the love and tenderness shown to June in her last few months. Preferred Hospice provided such love and compassion to her and the family, we cannot thank them enough.

Her laughter, silly sense of humor and sass will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Memorial contributions may be made to OACAC Foster Grandparent Program in care of the funeral home.
