Larry "Buck" Coffman

August 16, 1951 — May 17, 2023

Larry “Buck” Coffman, son of the late Rass and Carrie (Long) Coffman, was born August 16, 1951, in the family home north of Mountain Grove. He went to his Heavenly home May 17, 2023, at his house in Hartville, Missouri. He was 71 years, 9 months, and 1 day of age.

Buck grew up in the Mountain Grove area and graduated with the Mountain Grove High School class of 1969. Buck was a jack of all trades and worked a variety of jobs during the years after school. In 1980, he found his passion in dairy farming, continuing with his dairy career until 2005 when he transitioned to beef cattle. He took great pride in his field chores, especially during the haying season. Horses were a big part of life on the farm and many great trail rides were ridden, which ultimately led to Buck’s second love: horses. He could be found almost anywhere across the United States trading, selling, or talking fox-trotters. He was an avid hunter and always looked forward to his annual camping trip out west to the mountains of Idaho, Montana, and Colorado to elk hunt.

Buck moved a total of four times in his lifetime–all within a half mile distance of each other. He deeply enjoyed taking his grandchildren deer hunting on the family farm.

Buck professed his faith in Christ and was baptized in 2011. He was always eager to spread the joys of the Lord to his friends and family and could often be caught saying “I know where I’m going, do you?”

Buck’s first love and top priority in his life was his family. In 1969, he was united in marriage to Michele Hopper and to this union a daughter, Ingrid, was born. In 1990, he was united in marriage to Sharon Moore and to this union came his bonus son, Carl. All throughout his life he was a devout worker, father, and husband; building a legacy and becoming the cornerstone of his family, known for working hard, giving more and always ready to give a helping hand to his friends and neighbors. He was a man who was wise but quiet, strong yet kind and giving, and most of all, faithful to the Lord.

Besides his parents, Buck was preceded in death by six brothers, Dean, Gean, Harold, Darold, Farris, and Francis Coffman, and one sister, Mable Tetrick.

Buck is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Coffman, one daughter, Ingrid McCallister and husband, Stacey, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, one son, Carl Beasley and wife, Aundrea, of Mountain View, Missouri, three grandchildren, Devon McCallister (Speed Ford), Noah McCallister (Brooke McCallister), and Killian Beasley, four sisters, Darlene Bradshaw and husband, Glen, of Norwood, Missouri, Patsy Hamilton of Mountain Grove, Missouri, Donna Carlson and husband, Sam, of Hannibal, Missouri, and Dottie Perryman of Raymondville, Missouri, niece, Cimmaron Moore, and many other relatives and friends who will miss him greatly.
