Leroy Wolfe

March 11, 1955 — April 5, 2024

Seymour

Alexander Leroy Wolfe was born March 11, 1955, in Lamar, Missouri, to Arthur and Ruth (Mcguirk) Wolfe. Leroy went home to be with our Lord and Savior April 5, 2024, at Mercy Hospital, Springfield, at the age of 69.

Leroy is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Ruth Wolfe; his father and mother in law, George and Irene Zimmerman; one sister, Joyce Oxenreider; four brothers-in-law, Herbert Oxenreider, Robert Zimmerman, Freddy Zimmerman, and Glenn Zimmerman;  three sisters-in-law, Corrine Darling, Rena Zimmerman and Mary Zimmerman.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Wolfe of the home; sons, Jared Wolfe and wife Amy, and Eric Wolfe and wife Michelle; three grandchildren, Tyler Wolfe, Trinton Wolfe and Marissa Wolfe; as well as, four great grand babies; his sister, Barbara Kilgore and husband JR; six brothers-in-law, Kenneth Zimmerman, Jack Zimmerman and wife Annette, David Zimmerman and wife Betty, Terry Zimmerman, Frank Zimmerman and wife Debbie, Tom Zimmerman and significant other Robin Clark, two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Townlain and husband Gary, and Rita Graven and husband, Bob, as well as lots and lots of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends who will miss him very much!

From a very young age Leroy loved to be outside; fishing and trapping were his favorite things to do. As a little boy he would build and set traps all along the river. The thing about traps is you never know what you’ll catch. Once he trapped a skunk, not only did the skunk spray him but it got his dog too. The story goes that he was not allowed inside that night until he took off all his clothes. Leroy always had an ornery streak. Once he and his sister Barb caught their sister Joyce in a tree and promptly took the ladder and ran home with it!

Leroy grew up in Fordland, Missouri, where he graduated in 1974. It was around this time that his good friend David Zimmerman showed him a picture of his sister Dorothy. As they say, the rest is history. Leroy and Dorothy were married on July 1, 1978. Not long after that, one and then two, blue eyed blonde boys were born; first Jared in 1979 and then Eric in 1981.

Leroy and Dorothy taught their boys how to enjoy the little things in life. They were always taking them fishing, hunting, swimming in the creeks, and mostly camping. This built a bond stronger than most have. The dedication and love this family shared was very important to Leroy and Dorothy. Anyone that knows the family can attest to the strong love they have for one another. It was also passed on to their grandchildren. Leroy loved his boys, but everyone knows it was his grandchildren that had his heart. He spent countless hours with them doing all the things he loved to do. Teaching them how to build traps, bait hooks and set a trout line. He instilled in them knowledge and love that they will now carry throughout their lives.

Leroy worked a few places in his lifetime, Reyco in Springfield, Missouri, American Products in Marshfield, Missouri, and ended his work career as a janitor in the Seymour School system. Leroy enjoyed his time working at the school and made lots of friends who he loved very much.

Leroy was a very caring, loving man with a beautiful soul. To know him was to love him and he had a way of always making everyone feel comfortable and welcome. We will all miss his smile, his laugh, and his orneriness. Leroy touched all our lives, and we are all a little better for it.
