Lola Faye (Weber) Thompson was born January 25, 1945, in her family home in Competition, Missouri, to her loving parents, Fred and Myrtle (Dowden) Weber. At the time of her passing on July 5, 2025, she was 80 years, 5 months, and 10 days when she drew her final breath on this earth, wrapped in the arms of her family in her home in Rossville, Tennessee. From her very first breath to her last, she was loved by her family and everyone who was blessed to know her.
Lola was known for her beauty, passionate nature, and a true zest for life, but also for her compassion, generosity, and for the great love she had for family, friends, and for her deep and abiding faith. For Lola, love was not just a feeling or an emotion, but also a verb and you felt her love whenever you were in her presence. Lola drew upon her deep faith on a daily basis, and read her Bible cover-to-cover multiple times, finding joy and comfort in her most favorite passages.
One of Lola’s greatest joys was her family. She considered herself blessed to be one of 8 children (Delvin, Calvin, Doris, Oris, Dean, Lola, and twins Helen and Howard), with cherished grandparents, loving aunts and uncles on all sides of her large and extended family, the dearest of cousins, and the best of friends. Some of her fondest memories were of her childhood in the Missouri Ozarks, and she spent many happy times swimming in the creeks, picking blackberries, gathering eggs, chasing fireflies, and driving tractors on her family farm.
Lola met Gary when she was living in Kansas City, Missouri, through his mother whom she worked. When they married in November of 1970, Lola had two small girls (Paula and Brenda) and Gary had 3 children (Connie, Robbie, and Theresa). Together, they became the Thompson Family. Lola and Gary moved from Missouri to Kansas, and then later to Arkansas and Mississippi, before settling at their current home in West Tennessee. Together, they raised their 5 children, instilling a love of music, a deep appreciation of nature, a strong work ethic, and a love of the Lord. Lola loved children of all ages and was adored by her 12 grandchildren, their spouses, and 16 great-grandchildren.
Lola loved to travel (she visited all 50 states) and went on many trips, vacations, and cruises with her friends and family. Her happy places were near the water, with the sound of the ocean and wind, sprinkled with light laughter and good conversation, and at home on the front porch swing with Gary.
Lola leaves behind her loving husband Gary, her brother Dean, beloved sister Helen, her daughters, son and bonus sons, her precious grandkids, the very best nephews and nieces, the closest of cousins, countless friends of all ages, a legacy of love, and a lifetime of good times and happy memories.
We love you Lola, and you will forever live within our hearts.
