Marion Fuge

Marion Albert Fuge, 80, of Mansfield, Missouri, passed away after a long illness on October 18, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 15, 1945, after a storm that required the neighbor lady to cross a flooded creek to assist his mother during Marion’s home birth. He passed away with a storm in the area on the same farm to complete the circle of life.

Marion’s parents, Ralph and Eunice (Letsinger) Fuge raised him on the family dairy farm. At an early age, he learned to work hard and gained many skills that served him well over the years. He could do plumbing, electrical, mechanical and construction tasks.

He attended Mansfield High School and graduated in 1963. Marion attended one semester at MU in Columbia, Missouri, before returning to the family dairy farm. After being injured on the farm and returning to college, Marion graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Southwest Missouri State and graduated in May 1994, with his daughter, Rhonda Haynes, who earned her Master’s in Mathematics.

Marion worked most of his life on the family dairy farm. He served in the National Guard from November 1965 to July 1971. He left the farm and worked for a few years for RL Smith Construction before returning to the farm. Marion worked with Missouri Division of Family Services for several years as a caseworker and then retired in 2000. Marion supported his wife in her life pursuit by providing his many skills to the business of Rural Psychologists & Associates in Mansfield in 2006 for 4 years. He was an owner of their business, Greater Ozarks Rural Psychologists since April 2010.

His parents and sister, Nadine, predeceased Marion. He had two children from a previous marriage, Randal Fuge and Rhonda (Fuge) Haynes before he married his wife, Loretta (Brown) Fuge in 1980. Marion and Loretta have one son, Michael Fuge. He was proud of his children’s accomplishments: Randal works as an aerospace professional, Rhonda became a teacher and Michael earned his doctorate in medicine at MU. Mostly he was proud of his children because they are good caring individuals. Michael cared for Marion in the home since 2018 with the assistance of Randal and Rhonda over the years.

He is survived by his wife, Dr. Loretta Fuge; his children, Randal Fuge (St. Louis), Rhonda Haynes (Bruner), and Dr. Michael Fuge (Mansfield); his brother, John Fuge (Springfield); sister, Jean Raney (Springfield); his niece, Jennifer Van Matre (Springfield); and nephew, Jeffrey Fuge (Springfield); 5 grandchildren, Kelsey McCrady, Chandler Haynes, Cooper Haynes, Kidron Haynes, and Chloe Haynes; and 3 great-children, Rory McCrady, Caroline Haynes, and Kinley Haynes. He had many friends and others that he considered to be adopted sons and daughters.
