In her earlier years, Mary enjoyed raising and taking care of cattle and gardening for her family. She enjoyed trips to Wal-Mart and liked reading romance novels in her spare time. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Her most precious time was spent with her kids and grandkids.

Mary was a member of Born Again Church and was a faithful attendee until her health declined.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Joseph and Fern Smith; her brothers, Harold Smith and wife, Muriel, Jesse Smith and wife, Katherine, and Rees Smith; her sister, Joyce Uptegrove; her daughters’ father, Charles Schweighauser; and her husband, Freddie Daugherty.
