Mountain Grove

MaryAnn Diane Yost, born on September 19, 1938, to Helen and Lawrence Sebastian, of Arlington Heights, Illinois, peacefully passed away on January 30, 2024, as she was surrounded by family and friends at her home in Mountain Grove, Missouri. She was 85 years, 4 months, and 11 days of age.

Mary's proudest accomplishment was undoubtedly her loving family. On October 12, 1957, she married Russell Christensen, with whom she shared three children: Robin, Larry, and Brandon. Together they created a home filled with love and laughter during their years together. Throughout her life, Mary instilled in her children values of compassion and kindness that will carry on her legacy for generations to come.

Mary found love once again when she married Grant Yost on February 14, 1985. They embarked on a new chapter together and decided to make Naples, Florida, their home. The couple settled at Naples Bath and Tennis, cherishing the time they spent in each other's company.

Mary was a woman of many passions and interests. One of her greatest joys was playing tennis. She would often spend hours on the court, enjoying the sport with enthusiasm and grace. In addition to tennis, Mary had a talent for entertaining and hosting gatherings. She had a natural gift for creating warm and inviting atmospheres that made everyone feel welcomed and cherished. Her attention to detail and love for connecting with others made every get-together an unforgettable event.

Another passion of Mary's was gardening. She poured her heart into caring for her flowers and orchids, nurturing them into magnificent displays of nature's beauty. Her garden brought peace and tranquility to her life, serving as a source of solace and inspiration.

A lover of the beach, Mary spent countless hours walking along the shorelines in search of seashells. She found joy in this simple act of exploring, collecting delicate treasures from the sea. Utilizing her creativity, Mary turned these shells into stunning works of art that captured the essence of their ocean origins.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Grant Yost, her sister, Susan Brennan, and one son, Larry Christensen.

She leaves behind two children, Robin Landreth and her husband, Dan, and Brandon Christensen and his wife, Janice. Mary also leaves behind six grandchildren, Mike, Diana, Karel, Kerrie, Erika, and Brittany, nine great-grandchildren, Jason, Jordan, Patrick, Morgan, Kolby, Willow, Jace, Castle, and Kaley. These precious souls brought immeasurable happiness to Mary's life. Mary's legacy lives on through each of them as they carry forward the values she instilled in them.

Mary Yost was an extraordinary woman who touched the lives of many with her warmth and infectious smile. She will forever linger in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. Although she is no longer physically present among us, the memories created during her lifetime will continue to bring love and joy to all who hold them dear. We will remember her life as a beautiful tapestry woven with love, laughter, and cherished moments that will endure through eternity.
