Melanie Light

Melanie Rene (Cole) Light, born on October 17, 1949, in Portland, Oregon, departed this life peacefully on July 27, 2026, at her home in Mansfield, Missouri, at the age of 76 years, 9 months, and 10 days.

Melanie and her beloved husband, James “Jim” Light, shared 50 wonderful years of marriage together. This union was blessed with five children. Their life was filled with love, family, and many cherished memories.

Melanie mostly enjoyed spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren, but also enjoyed her cats and all her animals. She spent much of her time sewing, gardening, and reading.

Melanie was preceded in death by her mother, Jean, and her sister, Suzie.

She is survived by, her loving and devoted husband, Jim Light, her children, Angela Young and spouse, Stephen Young, Candi Eaton and spouse, Mark Eaton, Jennifer Maddox and spouse, Eddie Maddox, April Borup and spouse, Joe Borup, and Tracy Taylor and spouse, Joe Taylor, her grandchildren, Kindal Ball and Cory Holiday, Ashley Hogue and spouse, Hayden Hogue, Hannah VanderBogart, Kyle Eaton, Cody Eaton, Josh Borup, Jimmy Borup, Whitley Young, Wyatt Young, Walker Young, and Cole Maddox; several great-grandchildren, her sister, Judy Johnson and spouse, Rick Johnson, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Melanie will be deeply missed and forever loved by her family and all who knew her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she loved and the many lives she touched.

A memorial service will be held in September; the date and time will be announced at a later date.
