Mitchelene "Mickey" Dubois-Street

August 13, 1945 — July 8, 2022

Mitchelene “Mickey” DuBois-Street, daughter of the late Tom DuBois and Mary (Wickersham) Martin, was born on August 13, 1945, in Risco, Missouri, and passed from this life on July 8, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. She was surrounded by her loving husband and daughter. She was 76 years, 10 months and 26 days of age.

Mickey graduated high school in Risco, MO. She continued to live and work in Southeast Missouri for many years. She worked at the Brown Shoe Factory in Bernie, Missouri, and then as a seamstress until she moved to Norwood, Missouri. Her co-workers were always like family to her and she stayed in contact with many of them until her last days. In her spare time she loved to remodel and build many things. Every place she ever lived had her personal touch on it – sometimes just a few extra cabinets and sometimes she added whole rooms and roofs. Her home in Norwood gave her many unusual “pets” – for many years she hand-fed a raccoon she affectionately called Roz and she often had hummingbirds eat from her hand.

Mickey was married in July 1963 and had her only daughter, Donna Broyles. Mickey was lucky enough to find true love with Jim Street and they were married on January 3, 2015. Once he retired, they lived together in Norwood and had just moved to a beautiful new home they picked together in Grove, Oklahoma, last month.

Mickey was preceded in death by both of her parents, brothers, Larry McLain and Tommy DuBois, and sister, Ronna DuBois.

Mickey is survived by her husband, Jim Street of Grove, Oklahoma, a daughter by birth, Donna Broyles of Fulton, Missouri, and a daughter by choice, Cynthia O’Bryan of Fulton, Missouri, a step-daughter, Carolyn Woods and husband, Clarence Jr, of Hayti, Missouri, grandchildren, Michael Johnson and wife, Suzanne, of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Jerralynn Broyles and partner, Coty Stewart, of Rolla, Missouri, step-grandchildren, Lance Lucy, Cody Lucy & J.C. Lucy of Hayti, Missouri, and great-grandchildren, Eli and Caleb Johnson, and Maizy & Ellie Stewart, step-great-grandchildren, Miles, Teagan & Kyndal Lucy, brothers Don “Butch” McLain and wife, Linda, and Tim DuBois and wife, Debbie, and sister Terry (DuBois) Greene and husband, Bruce. There are also many nieces, nephews and cousins. While she only gave birth to one child – she had many that called her mom and she loved them all.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
