Monty Pennell, son of the late James Wiley and Lee (Harrison) Pennell, was born May 2, 1953, in Malakoff, Texas. He passed away July 19, 2026, at his home in Vanzant, Missouri, at the age of 73.
Monty spent many years owning and operating his own Private Investigation Business, Pennell & Associates, and retired in 2020. Monty loved woodworking and working in his shop and traveling. Monty’s grandmother taught him to cook at an early age, so when he was much older, he went to Culinary School to become a Chef. He loved to cook and even had a food trailer for many years attending festivals with his wife. He was always in the kitchen stirring something up.
Monty was saved early in life and baptized in Texas, but when he moved to Missouri, he wanted to be baptized in the creek! He loved his church family and attending church. Even though he wasn’t much for talking, he was always sitting back listening.
Besides his parents, Monty was preceded in death by his step-son, Ryan Kutz.
Monty is survived by his wife, Sherry Pennell; son, Garrett Pennell of Illinois; son, Noah Pennell of Texas; daughter, Ashtin Acker and her husband, Chris, of Texas; step-daughter, Nicole Patrick of Missouri; grandchildren, Riot Pennell of Texas, Kambre Sauceda of Texas, and Patience Hackett of Pennsylvania; great-grandchild, Freya of Pennsylvania; and brother, James Pennell of Texas; and a host of other relatives and dear friends who will miss him greatly. Monty will be missed but never forgotten.
