Norma "Merritt" Bognuda

Norma Renee’ Bognuda, 60, of Seymour, Missouri, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones.

Norma was born on February 2, 1966, in San Luis Obispo, California, to Harold and Betty Thomas. She moved around to various places growing up and graduated from Green Forest High School in Arkansas. In 1986, she married Paul Merritt, and together they shared 18 years of marriage and were blessed with two children.

She was known for her generosity of giving. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends, especially her children and her Boston Terrier, Boomer.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Betty Thomas, and her husband, Paul Merritt. 

She is survived by her son, Aaron Merritt of Seymour, Missouri; daughter, Ashlie Bennett; son-in-law, Eric Bennett of Seymour, Missouri; beloved friend, Dan Cantrell; grandchildren, Wyett, Austin, Sydnie, Sayer, and Leyanne; three sisters; two brothers; and a host of nieces and nephews. 

Norma will be remembered for her love for her family and friends, her small treasures, and her ability to find a bargain.

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
