Patricia "Patti" Raney

Jun 22, 1955 — Oct 6, 2026

Norwood

Patricia “Patti” Gaye Raney of Norwood, Missouri, went to be with the Lord on October 6, 2026.

Patti was born on June 22, 1955, at Fort Carson, Colorado, to retired U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Marion Kenneth Raney and Grace Geneva (Helums) Raney.

Patti and her brother, James, accepted Christ as their Savior while attending Vacation Bible School at Rambo Assembly of God in Beulah, Missouri. They were baptized together at Yancy Mills on the Piney River in July of 1967. Patti attended Rambo Assembly of God early in her life. Later, she attended Countryside Church of the Nazarene in Norwood, Missouri, for as long as her health permitted. She loved her church family dearly.

Patti became a licensed hairdresser and manicurist in 1974. While living in Phelps County, she worked at several fine restaurants. She also lovingly cared for her parents as they grew older.

Patti had a special love for all animals, especially cats, and was sometimes affectionately known as the “Crazy Cat Lady” or “Crazy Patti.” She enjoyed many hobbies including crocheting, painting shirts, and gardening for as long as her health allowed.

Patti moved to Norwood, Missouri, in April 1987.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Grace Raney; her brother, James W. Raney; and her half-sister, Greta F. Raney.

Patti is survived by her special cousins, Mindy (Kurt) Russell and family, Jamie (Deana) Helums and family, and cousin-in-law, Regina Helums, all of Norwood, Missouri, Russell Brown of Mountain Grove, Missouri; and Mona McNatt and family of Walls, Mississippi. Patti is also survived by her stepchildren, Leroy (Diane) Leggett of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Teresa (Jens) Kuhlman of Norwood, Missouri, and Byron Leggett of Ava, Missouri; seven step-grandchildren; and sixteen step-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her good friends, the Willbank family of Licking, Missouri, and Paul Smith of Wright City, Missouri, along with many other dear family members and friends who loved and cherished her.

Patti will be deeply missed. She was always willing to listen, offer advice when she could, and, most importantly, pray for those she loved. She was ready to be with the Lord and was simply awaiting the day when the good Lord would call her home.

Earth’s loss is Heaven’s gain.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home in Mountain Grove, Missouri. Patti will be laid to rest beside her brother and parents at Hillcrest Cemetery in Mountain Grove, Missouri.
