Preston Jarrett

December 4, 1990 — June 14, 2024

Mountain Grove

Preston Jay Jarrett was born in Springfield, Missouri, on December 4, 1990, to Marvin and Lori (Dennis) Jarrett. He passed away suddenly on June 14, 2024. Preston was 33 years, 6 months, and 10 days of age.

Preston lived near Mountain Grove his entire life. Preston was saved and baptized on April 16, 2000, at First Baptist Church. He graduated from Mountain Grove High School with the class of 2009. Throughout his lifetime, Preston was a lover of adventure and wonder. He spent much of his time in the woods or on the river. Preston enjoyed playing football and baseball during his adolescent years. Known as “the favorite child”, sibling rivalry continued through adulthood and usually ended with someone in a chokehold. Preston enjoyed gigging with his siblings and always was the one who made sure to get pictures for mom to post on Facebook.

Preston married Brittany (Temple) Jarrett in Challis, Idaho, on August 14, 2021. They made their home in Mountain Grove. Preston was a devoted husband who made life feel magical and special. He would stop to pick wildflowers any chance he could get and leave notes on the coffee maker just to make her smile. He communicated his love through music and always made sure to have coffee in the cabinet.

Preston had two sons: Parker Case, age 8, from his first marriage and Vann Lane, age 4, from his current marriage. After he had his sons, Parker and Vann, it was very important to him to take the time to share as many life experiences with them as possible. He felt his purpose was to be a dad and always put in the effort to teach the boys what it means to be a good man. He was a nurturer through and through. Preston loved to feed people and he made his passion into a community with his food trailer, Sandwiches n’ Thangs. Preston loved to make new recipes that were “lip smackin”. Known for his wit, kind heart and infectious smile, Preston enjoyed having fun with others including karaoke, whether he was performing or cheering on someone else. His life philosophy was to always give more than he took and to never leave someone without giving them a hug. His love for his family and his love for life will always be remembered in the hearts of those who knew him.

Preston was preceded in death by his step-father, Mike Hyde, grandmother, Clara Faye Dennis, and great-grandparents, Roy and Lola Dennis and George and Irene Durney.

He is survived by his loving wife of their home, Brittany, his two sons, Parker Case and Vann Lane Jarrett, his mother, Lori Hyde of Mountain Grove, Missouri, his father, Marvin Jarrett and his wife, Aimee, of Fordland, Missouri, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Jennifer Birkmaier, of Baker City, Oregon, grandparents, Garry and Shirley Jarrett, and grandfather, Larry Dennis, all of Mountain Grove, two brothers, Jaxen Holman of Mountain Grove and Tanner Barnes of Cabool, Missouri, two sisters, Hali "Tom" Shaffer and husband, Luke, and Rileigh Holman, all of Mountain Grove, niece and nephew, Boone Roy and Charlie May Shaffer, other relatives and many friends who will greatly miss him.
