Raymond W. Brumley

Raymond W. Brumley, son of the late Roy Elvis and Ella (Farmer) Brumley, was born on September 7, 1917 in Russellville, Kentucky, and departed this life on December 8, 2007 in the Autumn Oaks Caring Center in Mtn. Grove, Missouri, following a long illness. He was 90 years, 3 months and 1 day of age.
Raymond grew up and attended school in Oklahoma and Texas. He met and married Catherine Byrd on October 12, 1935 in Altus, Oklahoma. Two children were born to this union.
Raymond was employed by the Pacific Gas and Electric Company and retired as a manager for the company in 1975 following thirty-one years of service.
He was a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Mtn. Grove and served as an ordained deacon while living in California for many years. He loved attending services and visiting with his many friends in the community.
Raymond enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden each year and doing woodworking. He truly loved work of any kind and enjoyed keeping busy and accomplishing tasks set before him.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be missed very much by those who knew and loved him
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother: Paul Brumley; and by one sister: Louise Holder.
He is survived by his wife of seventy-two years: Catherine Brumley of their home; one son: Lindell Ray Brumley and his wife, Carola Jean, of Mtn. Grove; one daughter: Ramona Ruth Holbrook and her husband, Robert Wayne of Mtn. Grove; two brothers: Elvis Brumley of Eugene, Oregon, and Stanley Brumley of Stockton, California; one sister: Jessie Parks of Lubbock, Texas; four grandchildren: Linda Rene’ (Brumley) Johnson, Lori Rae (Brumley) Pierce and her husband, Tim, Jeff Holbrook and his wife, Lupe', and Bruce Holbrook and his wife, Linda; five great-grandchildren: Meghan Pierce, Molly Pierce, Richard Holbrook, Kevin Holbrook, and Chris Holbrook; two great-great-grandchildren: Justin Holbrook and Stephen Curtis; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Raymond Brumley were held Wednesday, December 12, 2007, 2:00 pm in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel with Rev. Jerry Ratterree officiating. Iby and Ruth Edwards and John and Shirley Shores served singers. Song selections were “One Day At A Time,” “How Great Thou Art,” “Peace In The Valley.” Pallbearers were Bill Austin, Murrell Clark, Iby Edwards, Robert Holbrook, Ross Fish, and Jeff Holbrook. Burial was in the Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove, Missouri.
