Rex Alan Carter
September 7, 1954 – September 2, 2026
Rex Alan Carter, 71, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on September 2, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories and a family who loved him deeply. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend whose greatest legacy was the family he cherished.
Rex spent many years driving his big rig, but when he wasn’t on the road, he enjoyed the simple things in life—sitting on his porch, hunting, fishing, camping, boxing in any structure with an open side and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He especially loved watching them play and listening to his girls sing.
Rex had a way of making everyone feel welcome. No matter what kind of day he was having, he greeted visitors with a smile. He was a friend to everyone he met, and there was rarely a stranger around him.
He leaves behind his wife of nearly 28 years, Kathy; four daughters - Missy Montgomery & husband Robert; Janie Farris & husband Marc; Rebecca Bryson & husband Shane; Brianna Harris & husband Dakota. 8 grandchildren - Carter Campbell & husband Cody; Alexis Yates & husband Ceejay; Alex Farris & wife Chloe; Howdy Montgomery; Arizona Harris; Kinlee Harris; Raylee Harris; Whitlee Harris. 3 great grandchildren - Morgan, Blake & Tate. 2 brothers - Marshall Carter & wife Judy; Ronnie Carter & wife Sandy; many nieces and nephews and other extended family that he loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jewell and Coy Carter; his sister, Vivian; his brother, Johnny; and three great-grandbabies.
Rex will be remembered for his love of family, his friendship, his welcoming spirit, and the many memories he created with those around him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family would like to thank everyone for their love, support, and prayers during this difficult time. A celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date and will be announced soon.
