He was a dairy farmer and lifelong member of the Holstein Friesian Association and later raised beef cattle with his wife on their farm in Diggins.

He made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Diggins Baptist Church. The Bible verse that Lloyd treasured from his boyhood memories was John 3:16, " For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
