Roy Lee McDaris, son of the late Arque “Pete” and Violet “Marie” (Stigall) McDaris, was born December 31, 1946, in Twin Falls, Idaho, and departed this life May 4, 2026, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, at 79 years of age.

Roy came back to the Hartville, Missouri, area as a young boy with his family, and he lived most of his life in Wright County. He attended Coon Creek Country School and later graduated from Hartville High School with the class of 1965. Roy enlisted in the United States Navy and faithfully served his country in the Vietnam War. Following his military service, Roy worked as a foreman at Hutchens Industries steel plant. He worked in construction for the majority of his career, and he finished his career at Set Rite Truss, all while maintaining and working his farm. Roy was united in marriage to Nancy Kellerhals on October 22, 1994. After retirement, Roy and Nancy enjoyed their time on their farm north of Hartville where they lived for the remainder of Roy’s life.

Roy and Nancy enjoyed sitting in their gazebo, drinking coffee, and listening to nature every morning before daylight, and also playing cards together. He also loved fishing, farming, and gardening. Roy was a deacon at Green Valley Baptist Church, and he also enjoyed being the song leader. Roy loved music and he enjoyed going to singings, especially Southern Gospel music. Roy’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his family and getting together as often as they could. Roy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, and he will be missed by all those who loved him.
