Russel Allen

May 9, 1947 — October 2, 2022

Russel Lewis Allen, son of the late Norvell Nels and Norma Rose (Miller) Allen, was born May 9, 1947 at Norwood, Missouri, and passed from this life at his home in Norwood, Missouri, following a long illness, on October 2, 2022. He was 75 years, 4 months, and 14 days of age.

After several moves in his young life, Russel and his brothers, Robert Lee Roy, Rex Leonard, Norman Nelson, and his sister, Alice Faye went to school at Cabool, Missouri. He was a loving son, father, grandfather, great-grandpa, and husband. He enjoyed farming, raising children, hunting, and fishing. The sound of a coon dog “treed barking” filled him with such joy and pride. He loved to help others when they needed him. He was called by a friend to help plow a field and was out past midnight getting the job done. Russel knew how to handle cattle and horses. He was gentle yet firm so as not to scare them or get anyone hurt. He never missed a beat.

Russel accepted Jesus as his Savior at age 75. He watched “In Touch” with Rev. Charles Stanley, and “James River Church” with his wife, Dellora, on Sunday mornings. Russ listened and learned.

Besides his parents, Russel was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Allen; his uncles, Bob Allen of Graff, Missouri, Lester Allen of Mansfield, Missouri, Jess Allen of Norwood, Missouri, Gene Allen of Mansfield, Missouri, Emmet Allen, Egbert Allen, and Walter Miller of Mansfield, Missouri; five aunts, Trish, Mildred, Alda, Nell Fern, and Joyce Miller; grandparents; nieces and nephews; along with cousins.

He is survived by his wife, Dellora of their home; his son, Jesse Allen and his wife, Karen; his daughters, Rose Mary Dennis and her husband, Scott, Marlana Allen, and Serena Allen; two brothers, Rex Allen and his wife, Bonnie, Norman Allen and his wife, Sharon; one sister, Alice Emerson and her husband, Ralph, of Oklahoma; many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his wife Dellora, family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.

Mr. Allen has been cremated. No services are planned at this time.
