Rusty Owens

Russell “Rusty” James Owens, son of the late Normal and Zelma (Shores) Owens, was born August 19, 1960, in Wright County, Missouri. He passed away at his residence in Norwood, Missouri, on February 6, 2026, at the age of 65.

Rusty grew up in the Mountain Grove area, where he made many friends. He worked at the sawmill as an edger for Hill and Hill Logging at Norwood, Missouri, for several years.

In his younger years, Rusty enjoyed hunting and kickboxing. He was very good at kickboxing and won many kickboxing competitions over the years.

On September 17, 2016, Rusty and Margie were united in marriage at Norwood, Missouri.

Rusty was preceded in death by his parents, Normal and Zelma Owens, and one sister, Sherry Hall.

He is survived by his wife, Margie Owens, of the home in Norwood; one daughter, Anna Smith and her husband, Herb, of Wichita, Kansas; one brother, Tommy Owens and his wife, Pam, of Mountain Grove; one sister, Cindy Elliott and her husband, David, of Norwood; three grandchildren, Herb Smith IV, George Smith, and David Smith, all of Wichita, Kansas; and other relatives and friends who will miss him very much.
