Ruth Walters

November 21, 1937 — May 31, 2024

Mountain Grove

Ruth Anne Walters, daughter of the late Oscar Harold and Margaret (Sterk) Halsel, was born November 21, 1937, in Kansas City, Missouri, and departed this life May 31, 2024, in Springfield, Missouri.  She was 86 years, 6 months, and 10 days of age.

Ruth grew up in the Kansas City area.  She met Lee Walters and they were united in marriage on July 13, 1968, in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.  She and Lee enjoyed canoeing many Ozark’s streams, and they were a part of a canoe club in Lee’s Summit.  In 1977, Ruth and her family moved to the Norwood, Missouri, area.   Ruth worked tirelessly in their home over the years taking care of her family, and she was an excellent mother and grandmother.

Some of the things that brought joy to Ruth were knitting, doing crafts, playing card games and board games, cooking and baking for her family, and playing hymns on the piano.  She loved music and always had music playing around the house.  Ruth was a people person and she could always be found around town visiting with someone.  While living in the nursing home, she always liked being around other people and participating in all of the activities there.

Ruth was a strong Christian woman and was very involved in church.  She was a dedicated member at Living Waters Worship Center in Mountain Grove.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Walters, one son, Douglas Walters, her parents, and all of her siblings.

She is survived by her son, Brian Walters and his wife, Amy, of Springfield, Missouri, her daughter, Rebecca Sue Walters of Springfield, Missouri, her daughter-in-law, Laura Walters of Mountain Grove, Missouri, her son, Tony Clark and his wife, Cindy, of Shawnee, Kansas, eight grandchildren, Stacey Tipper, Kristy Clark, Sherri Madziala, Shaela Smith, Mariah Walters, Shane Walters, Brian Walters Jr., and Aaron Walters, four great-grandchildren, McKinley, Noah, Watson, and Jack, and other extended family and friends who will miss her.
