Virginia Lee Housley

May 3, 1938 — March 31, 2017

Virginia Lee Housley, daughter of the late Clark and Clobell (Weaver) Deeds, was born on May 3, 1938 in Wright County, Missouri, and departed this life on March 31, 2017 at Cox Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri. She was 78 years, 10 months, and 28 days of age.



Virginia grew up in Wright County and graduated from Mountain Grove High School in 1956. She married Shelby Housley on May 5, 1956 in Norwood, Missouri. Three children were born to this union.



Virginia was saved and baptized as a young girl. She was a member of Rock Chapel Church in Norwood, Missouri, for 60 years. She was a Sunday School teacher for 50 years and the church song leader for many years. Virginia loved her church and enjoyed all the opportunities she had to serve the Lord.



In her spare time, Virginia enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens, sewing, and quilting. She loved the 50 years she worked on the dairy farm with her husband. She also enjoyed her work as a tour guide at the Laura Ingalls Wilder home in Mansfield, Missouri, for the past 16 years. Virginia was an excellent cook and greatly enjoyed cooking for her family and friends.



Besides her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by a grandson, Andrew Housley.



She is survived by her loving husband of their home, Shelby Housley, two sons, Mike Housley and his wife, Lisa, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, and David Housley and his wife, Tammi, of Norwood, Missouri, one daughter Sherry Thompson of Springfield, Missouri, one brother, Ron Deeds of Mountain Grove, Missouri, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and many other relatives, church family, neighbors, and friends who will miss her greatly.


Visitation: Sunday, April 2, 2017 from 4:00 - 6:00 PM in the Chapel.



Funeral Service: Monday, April 3, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Rock Chapel church in Norwood, Missouri.



Burial: Rock Chapel Cemetery, Norwood, Missouri.
