Wanda "Gertie" Clark

Wanda Gertrude Clark was born January 27, 1940, in eastern Douglas County, Missouri, and passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026, in Mountain Grove, Missouri, at the age of 86.

Gertie was born to hardworking parents who were migrant workers in Idaho. From an early age, she learned the value of perseverance, humility, and dedication—qualities that would define her life. She graduated with the Willow Springs High School Class of 1959, carrying with her cherished memories and lifelong friendships.

On December 26, 1961, she married the love of her life, Hugh Wayne Clark. As a devoted homemaker, Gertie poured her heart into caring for her family, creating a warm and welcoming home that became a gathering place for generations.

She found joy in life’s simple and meaningful pleasures. Gertie loved gardening, sewing, quilting, baking, and reading. She had a special gift for caring for babies and nurturing those around her. A woman of deep faith, she was saved as a young adult and remained steadfast in her walk with the Lord throughout her life. She spent decades faithfully serving in her church, teaching Sunday school beginning in the 1970s and touching countless lives with her wisdom, kindness, and dedication to studying the Bible.

Above all, Gertie loved her family. Her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She treasured every moment spent with them, leaving behind memories of warmth, encouragement, and unwavering love.

Gertie will be remembered for her gentle spirit, strong faith, servant’s heart, and the lasting impact she made on everyone blessed to know her. Her legacy of love and faith will continue through the many lives she nurtured.

Gertie was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Wayne Clark; one son, Steven Clark; one daughter, Sherri Mayberry; three grandsons, Jonathon Goodman, Dallas Massey, and Dillon Massey; and two sisters, Margie Welton and Beverly Reasoner.

Gertie is survived by three daughters, Kathy Breland and husband, Ken, Nikki Delcour, and Cindy Rambo and husband, Bobby; six grandchildren, Ashley Volner and husband, Danny, Danielle Manniello and husband, Scott, Seth Mayberry, Zachary Breland, Adrianne Hubbard and husband, Colby, and Beau Massey; twelve great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
