Wendell Royce Bricker, son of the late Royce Merton and Opal (Reynolds) Bricker, was born September 28, 1944, in Silver City, New Mexico, and departed this life September 18, 2025, at his home near Seymour, Missouri.
He grew up and attended school in Grants, New Mexico. He joined the United States Air Force after high school. After serving active duty, Wendell attended nursing school in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and became a registered nurse. He later joined the National Guard and retired after 20 more years of service to his country. He worked many different nursing positions throughout his career including the United States Medical Center for Federal Prisoners in Springfield, Missouri, until his retirement in 2004.
After retirement, he enjoyed transporting members of the local Amish community, and he gained many lifelong friendships through this endeavor. Wendell liked to keep a hobby farm, and he enjoyed brush hogging and taking care of the land and all of the different animals they have had over the years. Some of his other favorite pastimes were working crossword puzzles and playing computer games. He also enjoyed gardening and even tried his hand at woodworking.
Wendell was preceded in death by his parents, Royce Merton and Opal Bricker, one brother, Terry Bricker, and one brother-in-law, David McCain.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Bricker, four sisters, Kathy McCain, Pat Bricker, Ann Bricker, and Jerry Lynn Haas, six children, David Bricker, Bobby Bricker, Mark Bricker, Aaron Robberts, Scott Bricker, and Rebekah Tuttle, one step-son, Tony Bryant, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and many friends and extended family who will miss him.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 24, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Seymour.
Wendell will be buried at Luna Cemetery in Luna, New Mexico on Saturday, September 27, 2025.
