William Darrell Neuroth, better known as “W.D.” by his family and “Dub” by his local friends, was born October 17, 1937, to Lewis Oscar Neuroth and Alma Irvin Bates Neuroth, in Santa Anna, Texas. He went home to his Heavenly Father on June 19, 2026, surrounded by his family.
After the loss of his parents at an early age, W.D. lived with his sister and brother-in-law, Hazel and David Bullock, in San Angelo, Texas, where he finished high school and graduated from San Angelo High School in 1957. Immediately following graduation, he went to work for the General Telephone Company on an unlocated line crew. In 1958, he was transferred to Perryton, Texas, and promoted to outside plant engineer. GTE sent him to school and gave him the opportunity for a lifelong career to support his family.
In 1959, he met the love of his life, Shirley Dee Sanders. They were married in 1960. They were blessed with two sons, Fredrick Darrell and William Dee.
W.D. was drafted in October 1960. He served his country for two years in Ft. Ord, California. After his discharge, W.D. and Shirley made their home in Perryton, Texas. It was there that they met Bob and Betty Lancaster, who lived across the street. They became lifelong friends serving the Heavenly Father at Key Height Baptist Church and later First Baptist Church in Mountain Grove.
In 1967, W.D. moved his family to Missouri, where he and Shirley purchased a farm just down the road from Bob and Betty. W.D. and Shirley spent several years building the Neuroth farming legacy, which continues today. During that time, he returned to work at GTE where he eventually retired in 2002.
W.D. was steadfast in his faith. He was saved at a revival at the age of 14 and served the Heavenly Father greatly. In 1971, he was ordained as a deacon at Norwood Baptist Church and later First Baptist Church in Mountain Grove.
W.D. and Shirley spent many years doing missionary work wherever the Heavenly Father placed them.
William, Dub, W.D., Dad, Papa, whatever he was called, he was strong in his faith, work ethic, and love for his family and friends.
W.D. was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis Oscar and Alma Irvin Bates Neuroth; brothers, John Fredrick and Leroy Oscar Neuroth; sisters, Oleta Roberts, Hazel Ruth Bullock, and La Quita Joy Allen, and a great-grandson, Raye William Neuroth.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Shirley, of the home; sons, Fredrick Darrell (Jana) and William Dee (Letha) of Norwood; grandchildren, Carrie Dee Prince (Adam) of Perryville Arkansas, William Channce Neuroth (Alexis) of Norwood, Robert Chad Neuroth (Stephani) of Mountain Grove, Alexandra Dee Dobson (Christopher) of Mountain Grove, William Jacob Valton Neuroth (Taylor) of Norwood, Garrett Conrad Neuroth of Norwood; great grandchildren, Elijah, Arieanna, Sophie, Bentley, Wyatt, Renleigh, Caden, Daphne, Waylon, Hayley Sue, William Clarence, and William Holden; and great-great-grand-daughter, Delilah Harper.
